that’s chips to us on this side of the big pond. well i guess in a marketing effort to distinguish fried potato chips from baked potato chips they are calling the baked variety ‘crisps’. in any case these are baked and are purported to be low-fat. let the games begin.
the smell: there is no smell. even up close, there’s no smell. though what’s funny is that the chips that are whole are shaped like big ass belt buckles. kinda funny.
the color: lovingly fake yellow-orange. it’s the color we have come to love from cheetos.
the taste: semi-smokey without much pork fat. i think the bacon flavor is almost non-existent. the overall pop of the cheddar-bacon combo really doesn’t hit. as with most baked chips i have found they are fairly weak in flavor. this might be due to the significant laking of salt when mixed with frying oil. the texture is more towards pringles. they have a homogenous texture that is due to the fact that the starting point for these chips is dehydrated potatoes.
overall: 5/10. are they decent? yes. would i eat handfuls of them? probably not. purchase them again? no. i will try some other variety next time though. pick them up at your local target store if you like. oh yeah, peep the nutritionals per serving here:
